When people use storage
Between two homes. The classic situation: you hand over your old home before you get the keys to the new one. We move your belongings to the warehouse and, on the agreed day, on to your new address. One load in, one load out.
During a renovation. If the floor is coming out or the kitchen is being replaced, we collect what is in the way, store it, and put it back once the work is finished. We can take furniture apart and reassemble it.
Part of your belongings. Sometimes not everything has to go. Things you have not made up your mind about go into storage while the rest moves straight to your new home.
Where your belongings are kept
Your belongings go into wooden storage units. Those units stand in our own warehouse, locked and supervised. Wood breathes, so your things stay dry and airy. Anything fragile is packed first, in packing paper, bubble wrap or a mattress cover, exactly as it would be in an ordinary move.
For a short period we also use containers. They are easy to load and unload and are practical if you only need to bridge a few weeks.
What we load in, we unload again. Your belongings are not transferred to another van or another company along the way.
How it works
1. Tell us what needs to go into storage. Let us know what you want to store, from which date and for how long, if you already know. You will hear from us within five hours with a price.
2. We look at how much space you need. Over video or from photographs we estimate how many units you need. If you would rather we came round, we can do that and walk through it with you.
3. We bring it to the warehouse. On the agreed day we pack what is fragile, load everything and put your belongings away in your own units.
4. Everything comes home again. Call or message us as soon as you know the delivery day. We unload, carry everything inside and reassemble your furniture.
Getting to your things in the meantime
You can visit your unit by appointment. Call or send us a message beforehand and we will make sure a colleague is there and that you can reach your unit.
If you do not know your delivery date yet, we keep the storage running until you do. You give notice when it suits you; there is no fixed notice period of months.
What it costs
What storage costs depends on how much goes in and how long it stays. For that reason we do not quote a standard rate but make a price for your situation. We map out your belongings first, quickly, over video or from photographs. After that you know what you pay per period and what the transport there and back costs.
Five things decide the price: how much goes into storage and how many units that takes, how long you need it, whether we also do the transport both ways, whether anything has to be packed or taken apart first, and whether you want access in the meantime and how often.
Questions we get
How long can I leave my things in storage?
As short or as long as you need, from a few weeks between two homes to a longer period during a renovation. We agree the period in advance and extend it by arrangement.
Do I have to pack myself?
You may, and it brings the price down. If you would rather leave it to us, we pack with professional materials: packing paper or bubble wrap for fragile items, a cover for mattresses.
Do you also handle the transport to the storage?
Yes, and that is usually the most practical. We collect, store and later deliver to your new address, so your belongings pass through other hands only once.
What if my handover date moves?
Let us know as soon as you can and we will move with it. You extend the storage for as long as you need and we plan the delivery again.
What cannot go into storage?
Food, plants, animals and anything flammable or prohibited. If you are not sure about something, call or message us and we will tell you straight.
What about insurance?
Yes, your belongings are insured as standard during the move, the transport and the storage. What that covers is set out in our terms and conditions. If you are unsure about a particular item, ask us before it goes.
