A wharf cellar is not an ordinary basement flat
The buildings along the Oudegracht and the Nieuwegracht often have a dwelling on the wharf, reached by a narrow stone staircase with no room for a turn. A sofa will not fit down it and a wardrobe certainly will not. We take furniture like that apart and carry it down in sections, and build it up again at the other end.
If carrying is not possible, the furniture goes through the window. We put a moving lift up for that and work from the top down, which is quicker than going up and down the stairs.
Show us the stairwell and the facade in advance and you will know before the day whether the lift is coming and for how many hours.
Where the van can stand
Large parts of the Utrecht city centre are car-restricted or have window times, and along the canal the quay is narrow. We find out in advance what applies in your street and, where it is needed, apply for a place or an exemption. Tell us well ahead of time, because such an application takes a few working days.
If the van really cannot get in, we use a smaller one that shuttles the last stretch, so your belongings do not have to stand in the street.
In the centre we start as early as the window times allow, usually around seven in the morning. By midday the van is loaded, and everything is in its new place before the evening rush.
What we take off your hands
You decide what you do yourself and what we take over, from the lifting alone to all of it.
You pack, we move. The boxes are ready and the rest is ours: lifting, loading, driving, and putting everything in the right room at the new address.
Items you would rather not do yourself. The china cabinet, the bed to be taken apart, the washing machine to be disconnected. You can hand those over separately.
A move you hardly notice. We pack, dismantle, transport, reassemble and unpack. At the end of the day your home is standing again.
How it works
1. Two addresses and a date. Where you are coming from, where you are going, and an idea of what is coming with you. That is all we need to start. You have a price within five hours.
2. A survey without obligation. Over video, or at home if you prefer. We walk through the house, note what is going, and say on the spot what is needed in materials and people.
3. The plan goes in the van. The foreman does not set off on a phone call but on a plan: which furniture is to be dismantled, where the van will stand, and who will be there at the new address.
One adviser handles your move from the first question to the last box, so you never have to tell your story twice. On the day, the work is led by a foreman who has read your plan.
What it costs
We do not quote a standard rate for Utrecht, because the city varies too much. A new-build house in Leidsche Rijn with a roomy lift takes a fraction of the time of a fourth floor on the canal without one.
A price without a survey is a guess. So we go through your home first, remotely or in person, and then set a fixed price for the work agreed. What it depends on: the size of your household goods, how your home can be reached, whether we bring a moving lift and how long it stays, the walking distance from the van to the front door, and how much you hand over.
You have the quote within five hours, split into transport, manpower and packing, so you can see where the work sits. You pay after the move is finished.
Questions we get
Do you have an office in Utrecht?
No. We work everywhere in Utrecht and in the places around it, but we have no branch there; our vans and our people come from Zoetermeer.
Do you work in Leidsche Rijn and Vleuten?
Yes, and in De Meern, Overvecht, Zuilen and Lunetten as well. The whole municipality falls within the same planning, so you do not have to wait for a separate route.
Do I have to pack myself?
Only if you want to. We bring the packing materials: paper, film, mattress covers and blankets. In the van everything is strapped down so that nothing can shift on the way.
Is the house protected while you carry?
Yes. Before anything goes out, the walkways are covered and the door frames are in protective sleeves.
What if my planning changes?
If the handover runs late, let us know; we move with it as long as there is room in the planning.
